Water Quality and Testing Along the Sugar Creek

 

 E. Specific Water Quality Measurements: The following testing was done at each of the designated sites:

  • Acidity (pH): the acidity of the water is measured in field with a Hanna Combo Water Quality Tester
  • Total solids (TS): the total amount of solids is measured in the laboratory using Gravimetric EPA Method 160.3
  • Phosphates (PO4 –P) –Phosphates, acidified to pH < 2, are measured in laboratory using Spectrophotometric EPA Method 365.3
  • Nitrates (NO3 –N) –Nitrates, acidified to pH < 2, are measured in laboratory using Electrode EPA Method SM4500-NH4F
  • Ammonium (NH4 +N) Ammonium, acidified to pH < 2, are measured in laboratory using Electrode EPA Method SM4500-
